With nearly 10 days to go before the trial for the attack on the Grollmus Mill begins, Security Minister Martín Arrau emphasized this Friday that "terrorist violence must not go unpunished."

During his visit to Contulmo – in the Bío Bío region – the Secretary of State recalled the armed and arson attack that occurred on August 29, 2022. Christian Rodrigo Cid Ferreira lost one eye, while a member of the Grollmus family had one of their legs amputated. A third person also suffered serious injuries.

It is worth mentioning that 21 people are detained in connection with this case, two of whom were minors at the time of the events, and they will soon have to face justice. The attack was claimed by the radical organization Resistencia Mapuche Lafkenche (RML).

Through his X account, Minister Arrau highlighted: "Next June 23, a landmark trial for Chile will begin: 21 defendants will have to answer to justice for the armed attack and fire that destroyed the Grollmus Mill and brutally struck its family," he stated in a post.

"That this case has reached trial is the result of an extensive and persistent investigation, led by the Public Prosecutor's Office and carried out with the work of the PDI, Carabineros, and the Navy," he noted.

"Today we were in Contulmo to express our support for the Grollmus family and reaffirm the conviction that this is much more than a private conflict. It is the State of Chile that must act united, protect those who were attacked, and ensure that justice can work without threats or pressure. In the Southern Macrozone, terrorist violence must not go unpunished," he added.

Later, in another tweet, he shared a video with statements "from what was the Grollmus mill that was burned in a brutal terrorist attack that lasted many minutes of anguish for the people who were here."

From the site, he announced: "We launched our first task force, part of our Comprehensive Public Security Plan, our operational plan."

This initiative, as he detailed, "consists of grouping multiple state agencies at the service of security, at the service of law enforcement and security forces, and also at the service of the Public Prosecutor's Office."

In this way, it would allow "coordinating, cooperating, sharing information so that the State provides a comprehensive response in terms of security."

"It is our commitment, we are here today and we will return. We will be here constantly through these task forces, and today I will sign the resolution that constitutes this first commitment to the Southern Macrozone," he stated.
