The first on-site visit in the Biobío region by the Minister of Agriculture, Jaime Campos, along with the Executive Director of INFOR, Gabriel Valenzuela, took place in Yumbel and was also led by Mayor José Aurelio Sáez, as well as the trade associations that make up the Futuro Madera Network.

On that occasion, Víctor Sandoval, representing the Futuro Madera Network, made a presentation with concrete proposals to reactivate the sector, structured around six priority pillars: Forestry Promotion, Security in the territory, Reactivation of SMEs, Boost to Wood Construction, development of Biomass, and sustainable management of Native Forest.

Likewise, as a complement to this roadmap, the network of trade associations officially delivered to the Secretary of State a technical document with specific proposals for the future Forestry Promotion Bill that the Executive will promote.

Alejandro Casagrande, representative of Futuro Madera and Regional President of Corma Ñuble Biobío, described the instance as "valuable" and highlighted the presence of the authority in the area.

"We greatly appreciate that the minister came to Biobío, the forestry capital of the country; public-private collaborative work is the way forward, and we value the minister's vision. It is essential to first solve the issue of security in rural areas, especially in the province of Arauco. Second, to pass a Promotion Law for both plantations and Native Forest. Third, a robust Fire Law, focused on prevention and fire spread. And finally, we believe it is important—and the minister took note—to connect the country's challenge of building 400,000 social housing units over the next four years with the complexity of the closure of wood SMEs. If we achieve this match, we can solve both issues," emphasized Casagrande.

For his part, Víctor Sandoval, President of Pymemad Biobío Ñuble, delved into the value of the six pillars presented and the urgency of the ministerial announcements for the SME world: "We presented a clear and urgent agenda based on six strategic axes to lift the sector. Therefore, we appreciate that the minister has taken up our concerns and advanced concrete timelines for the Promotion Law and improvements to the Fire Law. Small and medium-sized wood enterprises are experiencing a very complex labor crisis; we need to reactivate operations with security and have modern promotion tools that provide certainty to resume planting and stop the closure of sawmills in southern Chile."

The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to establish technical follow-up channels to analyze the proposals submitted by Futuro Madera, seeking that future public policies reflect the reality of all stakeholders in the territory.
