Truckers from six southern regions of the country met with Carabineros in the La Araucanía region to work together with the goal of reducing accidents, preventing thefts and attacks.

Leaders from Bío Bío to Magallanes held a working session at the Carabineros Prefecture and zone headquarters in the city of Temuco. A meeting attended by generals from the southern regions of the country.

The president of the south-central trucking union, Freddy Martínez, stated that statistical data was analyzed and each association representative presented the main problems of their region.

This, he said, is to work together to prevent accidents on routes with a high volume of national and international cargo.

One of the central topics was how to develop strategies to prevent attacks in the Southern Macrozone.

Another topic addressed in this meeting was the theft of trucks carrying salmon cargo, mainly on the routes between the Los Lagos region, the ports of the Bío Bío region, and the international airport in Santiago.

The truckers stated that these meetings with Carabineros police command will continue to improve safety on the roads of southern Chile.
