Forestry teams provide machinery and equipment in Los Ríos to address the effects of the frontal system

The intense rainfall recorded in recent days has caused flooding, landslides, accumulation of mud and sediment, road closures, and problems in drinking water supply systems in various localities in the central and southern parts of the country.

Given this scenario, the company ARAUCO activated a broad deployment of resources to support emergency response efforts, mobilizing brigades, heavy machinery, motor pumps, road crews, and technical teams in different regions, including Los Ríos.

The work has been carried out in coordination with municipalities, firefighters, Rural Drinking Water (APR) committees, and community organizations, with the aim of restoring connectivity, facilitating water drainage, cleaning canals and intake structures, as well as assisting in the recovery of streets, homes, and affected infrastructure.

Support in the communes of Los Ríos

In the Los Ríos Region, ARAUCO teams have focused their efforts on the communes of Máfil, Mariquina, Los Lagos, and Paillaco.

In Máfil, company machinery has worked in the Rivadavia and Llastuco sectors, carrying out operations to improve water drainage and support the recovery of affected areas, in coordination with the municipality and residents. These actions are complemented by support for the preventive measures implemented in the commune of Mariquina.

In Los Lagos, efforts have focused on the localities of Antilhue and Bellavista-El Salto, where assistance has been provided in the evacuation and channeling of water. Additionally, motor pumps were deployed for draining streets, and unused wooden structures were delivered to contribute to the replacement of bridges in the Los Álamos sector.

Meanwhile, in Paillaco, the company allocated two work sessions with a backhoe for cleaning canals in Pichirropulli, Reumén, and Itropulli, responding to requests made by the municipality.

Deployment across different regions

The actions carried out in Los Ríos are part of the support plan implemented by ARAUCO in response to the frontal system, which also includes interventions in the Maule, Ñuble, and Biobío regions.

According to the company, brigade members, operators, professionals, and road crews have been mobilized to collaborate with communities and emergency teams, helping to restore connectivity and support the recovery of areas affected by the intense rains.
