René Muñoz, manager of the Forest Contractors Association (Acoforag), while regretting what happened, stated that intervening in Temucuicui does not solve the violence problem in the area, after dvarious procedures are being carried out by the Prosecutor's Office and PDI personnel to find the group of hooded and armed individuals who perpetrated a robbery with intimidation at the Deuco Farm, located on Route R-230, in the commune of Angol, property of Forestal Arauco.
Background information obtained by BiobioChile indicates that around 07:00 hours, a van from the company Renacer Servicios Forestales Spa, traveling with five workers on board, was intercepted head-on by a gray Ford Ranger pickup truck.
Muñoz added that "we find it regrettable that attacks on contractors and forestry workers continue to occur. We believe this is a pending task for the incoming government, because we have not seen a different attitude. In other words, carrying out interventions in the area does not mean the problem is solved."
The presidential delegate of the province of Malleco, Víctor Manoli, said that it is most likely the same group that a few days ago assaulted officials from the Municipality of Angol to steal a pickup truck that was later recovered.
The information specifies that three armed individuals got out of the vehicle, forcing the workers to get out of the van and remain on the ground. Subsequently, they unloaded the pine plants that were in the van, removed the communication radios and the GPS system from the vehicle, and finally fled, taking the affected company's vehicle.
Preliminary background information indicates that there were no shots fired at the scene, nor were there any injured people or messages from any radical organization claiming responsibility for the act.
The Prosecutor's Office ordered investigative procedures to the PDI's Robbery Investigation Brigade (BIRO) and arranged protective measures.
