The Ambassador of Chile to China, Alfonso Silva, participated in the Sixth APEC Ministerial Meeting on Forestry (MMRF6), held in the city of Shenzhen. Under the theme "Building a Green Asia-Pacific, Sharing Ecological Well-being," the meeting brought together authorities and representatives from the forum's 21 economies to address the region's main challenges in the forestry sector.
The Ambassador joined the Chilean delegation led by officials from the National Forestry Corporation (CONAF), Cristián Contador Lezano, Manager of Forestry Enforcement and Environmental Assessment, and Rodrigo Herrera Plaza, Head of the Sustainable Trade Section. The Consul General of Chile in Guangzhou, César Gamboa, also took part in the activities.
During the meeting, whose organization was led by China's National Forestry and Grassland Administration, Chile presented the country's main progress in forestry policy, sustainable management, and fire prevention and mitigation. Likewise, the APEC economies worked on the Joint Declaration of the Sixth Ministerial Meeting on Forestry, aimed at strengthening regional cooperation to promote sustainable management, protection, and conservation of forest resources.
The participation of the Chilean delegation made it possible to continue positioning Chile as a regional benchmark in forest governance, institutional strengthening, enforcement, and sustainable trade of forest products. It also contributed to strengthening ties with China's National Forestry and Grassland Administration and with the APEC economies, promoting the exchange of experiences and regional cooperation in this area.
