A new act of violence was recorded on Thursday night in the commune of Collipulli, La Araucanía region, where an arson attack left a vehicle completely destroyed.
The incident occurred at kilometer 20 of Route R-49, in the Curaco sector. According to initial reports, the driver of a truck and his passenger were intercepted by another vehicle, from which three hooded and armed individuals descended.
According to police information, the individuals intimidated the victims and forced them to get out of the vehicle. Subsequently, they proceeded to set the truck on fire before fleeing the scene in an unknown direction.
Personnel from the Collipulli Fire Department arrived at the scene and managed to control the fire, while Carabineros provided assistance to the victims and carried out the corresponding procedure, reporting the incident to the Public Prosecutor's Office.
Under the instruction of the Prosecutor's Office, specialized teams from the Labocar and the OS9 of Carabineros moved to the location to conduct forensic examinations to clarify the dynamics of the events and identify those responsible.
So far, no pamphlets or other items have been reported found that could link the attack to any specific cause or group.
This event corresponds to the first arson attack recorded in the area since the beginning of the current administration of President José Antonio Kast, in a context where concern persists over episodes of rural violence in the southern macro-zone.
The investigative procedures are still ongoing.
