This Monday, at the Guarantee Court of Purén, the sentencing hearing was held where the penalties to be served by seven members of the Coordinadora Arauco Malleco (CAM) were announced, following attacks perpetrated in 2021 on farms in Purén and Traiguén, in the La Araucanía region.

Specifically, the court determined that five of the seven individuals must serve sentences of nine years in effective prison. Meanwhile, Rafael Pichún must serve eight years in prison, and lonco Juan Pichún four.

It should be recalled that the subjects were prosecuted for various crimes, including repeated arson, attempted murder of police officers on duty, and illegal possession of weapons and ammunition.

The trial was abbreviated, as it took place after these seven individuals acknowledged the facts contained in the investigation file developed by the Public Prosecutor's Office in this case.
