The real prices of forest products traded in the domestic market recorded a widespread decrease in June 2026, compared with the same month of the previous year, according to the quarterly monitoring carried out by Infor and whose values are deflated by the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

Among the products analyzed, radiata pine pulpwood logs presented the smallest negative variation, with a year-on-year drop of 0.22%, going from $25.6 thousand per m³ in June 2025 to $25.5 thousand per m³ in June 2026.

Meanwhile, eucalyptus pulpwood logs decreased 1.95%, from $42.6 thousand to $41.8 thousand per m³. A more pronounced decline was observed in radiata pine sawlogs, whose price went from $48.9 thousand to $44.5 thousand per m³, equivalent to a decrease of 8.95%.

The trend also reached manufactured products. Radiata pine sawnwood recorded a year-on-year drop of 3.9%, going from $146 thousand to $140 thousand per m³, while planed wood decreased 1.7%, from $235 thousand to $231 thousand per m³.

The largest setbacks occurred in panels. The 9.5 mm radiata pine plywood panel fell from $700 thousand to $635 thousand per m³, a variation of -9.3%, while the 18 mm format retreated 4.86%, to $531 thousand. For its part, the 15 mm radiata pine MDF panel decreased 4.4%, reaching $483 thousand, and the 15 mm MDP fell 4.16%, to $408 thousand.

Four consecutive years of declines

Infor particularly highlights the evolution of radiata pine sawnwood and planed wood, whose prices accumulate four consecutive years of year-on-year decreases for the month of June, after reaching their maximums in 2022.

That year, sawnwood reached $161 thousand per m³, while planed wood reached $257 thousand per m³. The increase was associated with high demand from the construction sector, in a context marked by greater availability of resources derived from pension fund withdrawals, state aid, low interest rates and favorable credit access conditions.

However, the downward trajectory of the last four years has not brought these prices to pre-pandemic levels.

According to Infor, between June 2010 and June 2019 the average real price of sawnwood was $100.17 per m³, while that of planed wood reached $210.8 per m³.

With the values recorded in June 2026, sawnwood remains approximately 40% above that historical pre-pandemic average, while planed wood remains close to 10% above that level.

Thus, although the forest market shows a sustained correction with respect to the maximums reached in 2022, the prices of some of its main products continue to stand above the real values observed during the decade prior to the pandemic.
