In order to access high-precision, high-resolution imagery, along with land management tools, the National Forest Corporation (CONAF) took part in the launch of a platform called Geoportal, of the National Space System, at the seminar "Exchange of experiences in the geospatial field."

For CONAF, this platform represents an opportunity to strengthen its capacities and emergency preparedness, especially in wildfire protection, forest ecosystem monitoring, and the detection of areas of land-use change.

Representing the Corporation were the Wildfire Protection manager, Mauricio Véjar Carvajal; the head of the Monitoring Department, Francoise Pincheira; and remote sensing specialist Kriss Ruz. The event, organized by the National Space Center (CEN) of the Chilean Air Force (FACh), with the support of IDE Chile (Chile's Geospatial Data Infrastructure), was held in the auditorium of the Cerrillos Air Base.

The new geoportal provides access to high-resolution satellite imagery and information from the Aerophotogrammetric Service, as well as a mobile application. Its demonstration presented the imagery viewer and the Command and Control and Disaster Management modules, which integrate satellite data with emergency reports.

Likewise, IDE Chile presented the road map for the FACh Geoportal to operate as a node of the national spatial data infrastructure. The process includes formalizing a working group of the National Territorial Information System (SNIT) on imagery, Earth observation, and emergencies. The planning extends to 2038, considers three phases, and is aligned with the United Nations strategic plans on geospatial information management (UN-GGIM).
